Our 11 Dates Around World Showcase: Leaving Footprints in Epcot

You have one night ~ maybe more ~ where you have the opportunity to spend the evening with your significant other at Epcot in Walt Disney World.  Why not spend your Disney date exploring ONE pavilion inside and out?  Yes – just one, exploring every nook and cranny, savoring the food, creating a memory that you two will hold forever in your Disney-loving hearts.  Well, T, there are eleven country pavilions ~ how can we choose just one? You’ve got a point.  That’s why Hubby and I went ahead and did a little of the dirty work for you.  We went dating around Epcot so that you can take a peek inside OUR dates to see which World Showcase exhibits in which you may wish to leave your own set of footprints.

Dating Around World Showcase

As noted above, at the time of this piece, there are eleven countries showcased around the Promenade.  Each one different, but each one containing a collection of various dining opportunities, shops, entertainment options and more.  It was Hubby’s idea in early 2018 to take the time to explore each one together, just the two of us.  NO KIDS!  This gave us something new to talk about and experience as a couple who has been married for over 20 years.  I’m telling you ~ it’s a great thing to do for a marriage!

We picked a starting point and just made our way around, making dining reservations ahead of time if we wanted to do table service.  We browsed through merchandise and watched movies.  Hubby tried on various hats and I got dizzy in 360° movies.  (We’re laughing about it – trust me) Not to mention, we watched live performances and enjoyed the few attractions some of the pavilions house.

But, if planning a date night in ONE pavilion, how does a couple pick which one?

Have some fun.  Take a quick peek inside each of our date nights ~ or pick a few that interest you.  Find out what we did and what else there was do, just in case we did not get the chance to do it all.  I mean, we ARE only human.  After reading and selecting a pavilion, create your own adventure there.  Don’t forget to share with me below how your Date Night in World Showcase went!

It’s so easy to just breeze through the pavilions in order to sneak them all in during a family vacation.  I don’t blame you when you are trying to fit in everything you can in one trip.  However, if you have the opportunity, I highly encourage that you take a night and explore one a little more in depth.  You’ll be surprised at what you might find.

So, T, what was your favorite pavilion to explore during the dating around world showcase series?

Well, that is going to require a few different answers.  Why?  Because there were different aspects to each date – dining, shopping, entertainment.  You get the picture.  If I were to share our favorites in each of those categories, I would say:

Rose and Crown Dining Room - Welsh Pub Burger

  • Dining:
    • Table Service: Italy Pavilion.
    • Quick Service: Norway
  • Exploration: Hands down, Morocco Pavilion
  • Entertainment: Toss up between France Pavilion and American Adventure
  • Attraction: American Adventure (I cannot get enough of that song!)
  • Character Meet and Greet: Hard to say, as we didn’t really participate in many.  However, there are quite a few from which to choose around World Showcase (disclaimer: list not exhaustive).
    • Mexico – Donald Duck
    • Norway – Anna and Elsa (we did do this one)
    • China – Mulan
    • Germany – Snow white
    • Italy – Pinnochio (? not sure if he is there anymore)
    • American Adventure – Mickey and Minnie at certain times of the year
    • Morocco – Jasmine and Aladdin (we did meet Jasmine)
    • France – Belle and Aurora
    • United Kingdom – Alice and Mary Poppins
  • Cast Members: Each and every pavilion where the Cast Member allowed us to share their story!!!

I think THAT was my favorite part…meeting the cast members and hearing their own unique Disney story.  It was fascinating to hear where they were born, all about their families, learning about their aspirations and goals and finding out how they came to be a part of the Disney College Program, International Exchange or simply a Disney Cast Member in general!

Leave Some Footprints Yourself

I hope this series inspires you to do more exploring while you are visiting Epcot at Walt Disney World.   It’s not just a place to duck in and out of the air conditioning.  It’s a place where you can learn, grow and experience another culture.  Whether vacationing with family, on a couple’s getaway or taking a solo trip for some self-care, take advantage of this opportunity Epcot offers, the opportunity to EXPLORE!
