Get ready to shake your head and elevate your curiosity because Orlando has a new form of “edutainment” in town. For those visiting ICON Park, the Museum of Illusions opened earlier this month and it is a mind-blowing way for anyone to spend a portion of their afternoon!

Museum of Illusions Opens in Orlando

Hubby and I took a jaunt downtown to check out this new venue about one week after it opened. We weren’t sure what to expect or how long it would take us to walk through. However, we did hear some great things from friends who had already had the chance to visit. They did warn us that The Museum of Illusions is small, but encouraged us to take our time, read everything, and enjoy each illusion we were about to experience.
The Museum of Illusions is a place where math, science and psychology come together to both educate and entertain. The interactive, immersive and distinctly incomprehensible collection tempts visitors to not only be blown away by what they see, but to learn more about these tricks of perception and how the human brain works.

Hubby and I enjoyed defying the laws of gravity, shrinking down to miniatures and staring at photographs that made us see things we never knew were there.
CAPTURE THAT MEMORY!
Of course, no experience like this would be complete without being able to capture the memory on your phone or camera! There are designated areas around each exhibit where photographs are highly encouraged. In some exhibits, guidance is given in order to assist in optimizing the shot. As was the case in our situation, there were only two of us in our party. To help snap the photograph, a staff member was readily available to help frame the moment.

I highly encourage you to TAKE THAT PHOTO!!! There are so many uniquely mind-boggling backdrops. In fact, such inexplicable snaps are making the Museum of Illusions more and more popular by the day (check them out on social media)!
NOTE: There are containers of hand sanitizer located throughout the building. Masks are required and social distancing is strongly encouraged.

MORE REASON TO VISIT
What could make the visit to the museum better? Well, climate-control! With January and February being cooler months and the spring, summer and fall being…well, hot…it’s nice to know you will always be comfortable at the Museum of Illusions. Not to mention ~ parking is also FREE at the ICON Park® parking garage and there is a plethora of food and beverage outlets a hop, skip, or a jump away!
So – this sounds to me like a winning entertainment option for inquisitive minds of all ages. If you live in the area, be sure to check out this new venue at ICON Park. If you and/or your family are coming to Orlando, this is definitely something you are going to want to check out during an exploratory trip up and down International Drive.
