New Mary Poppins Sneak Peek and Posters!

November 16, 2018 By Tina 3 Comments

Well, if this isn’t supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!   Disney has just released a new sneak peek and posters for the upcoming, much anticipated MARY POPPINS RETURNS.  I can’t believe we still have a month before it arrives in theatres!!  It feels like we have been waiting forever.  Doesn’t it?

In our home, this is a very treasured story.  I remember watching the original when I was a child every year it was shown on TV, wishing and praying my own Mary Poppins would come and save the day.  Just a few years ago, our two older sons were cast in a high school version of the stage production, taking on the roles of Michael and Robertson Aye (only seen in the stage version).  Not to mention, we are all fans of so many of the members of this current film’s cast (Lin-Manuel Miranda – umm…..yes, please!).

This all-new original musical and sequel transports us to London and to a time when the Banks children are all grown up.  Sadly, however, they are suffering through a personal loss and, unbeknownst to them, are in need of the help of someone with very special, almost magical, abilities.

The practically-perfect nanny from their childhood descends from her place on high to help Michael and Jane find their joy and wonder again.  Through the use of her unique magical skills, Mary Poppins (played by the ever-so talented Emily Blunt) once again turns ordinary tasks into unforgettable adventures and memories.  With the help of an optimistic street lamplighter (played by none other than the incomparable Lin-Manuel Miranda), Mary Poppins brings light and life to not only the streets of London, but back into the hearts of her cherished Banks family.

Take a look at this sneak peek.

I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of this movie in theatres ~ and my fifteen year old son (who was bitten by the acting bug because of his role in the stage play) is just as excited.  What about you?  How do you feel about this new story-line?  I willingly admit that, to me, no one will ever be able to replace Julie Andrews as our original beloved Mary Poppins.  However, I do look forward to seeing Emily Blunt step into the role and the “sensible” shoes of such a prestigious character.  Not to mention ~ ummm…Dick van Dyke will be making an appearance.  Bonus!

So ~ get ready because this film is likely going to be a popular one this holiday season.  Be sure to get tickets early or ~ how about this ~ purchase them as stocking stuffers!!!  Ooooh – that sounds like a great idea!
