We are now counting down from 100 until the Pride Lands come alive on the big screen. Disney’s The Lion King will be in theaters July 19th and, to celebrate, the official trailer has finally been released!

Disney’s The Lion King Official Trailer
Directed by Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book”), Disney’s “The Lion King” takes us all to the African savanna where we “lie in wait” to see a future king enter the world. Growing up, Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and tremendous takes pride in his own royal destiny. However, not everyone in the kingdom is that excited about the new cub’s arrival. Mufasa’s brother, Scar – the now former heir to the throne, has every intention of putting his own plans into action to secure he is the successor. A battle for Pride Rock ensues and is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama. The ultimate result is Simba’s exile. However, the young cub, with the help from a curious pair of newfound friends (we all know who they are), will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
Favreau appears to stay true to the classic story and brings the iconic characters to life on the big screen utilizing pioneer filmmaking techniques, yet in a whole new way.
With regard to talent, the film features the famous voices of Donald Glover (Simba), Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Nala), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa) and Billy Eichner (Timon).
Looking to keep occupied over the next 100 days?
The excitement is building and one way to keep that hype elevated is to introduce your littles to activities related to the upcoming release. My boys loved doing word searches, as did I, growing up. We don’t get to August 9 here in Japan. I saw the trailer but need a clip to convince me to see in theaters.
That’s quite the wait until you guys get to see this film I completely understand needing a better, more in depth clip to make a decision, though. It’s hard when the animated one is a classic. I simply enjoy Jon Favreau films and don’t think there is one I haven’t liked to date.
