Blogging Branson: The Hughes Music Show ~ A Family Born To Entertain!

May 14, 2018 By Tina 12 Comments

**RECEIVED 2018 BLOGGING BRANSON AWARD OF EXCELLENCE**

Born to Dance ~ Born to Sing ~ Born to Entertain.  These are only a few of the amazing qualities I met the night we visited the Hughes Music Show in Branson, Missouri.  While I expected to see something fantastic, I never anticipated seeing that much talent on one stage ~ in one family  ~ in one show ~ at one time.

Disclaimer: I attended a media event as the guest of Niccole from The Creative SAHM.  While this was an event sponsored by the Stone Castle Hotel and Conference Center, all opinions listed below are 100% authentic and mine alone.

It’s been said over and over again throughout my Blogging Branson series that Branson is home to so many amazing performances and attractions.  While it’s obviously impossible to cram all this “amazing” into one visit, I am truly grateful that the opportunity to experience the Hughes Music Show was on the itinerary during our maiden trip to the area.

So, before I jump into the accolades and encouragements, let me give you a quick rundown to identify whom we are talking about.  The Hughes Family consists of five brothers (Marty, Jason, Adam, Ryan and Andy), four of whom currently remain in the Branson area.  Each brother is married to a beautiful young woman (Cindy, Mara, Vikki, Carina and Becky, respectively) and, among them, there are more than 35 children ~ children with talent literally dripping from their fingertips.

In Branson itself, the Hughes have the largest cast on the theatrical stage.  They also hold the title of being the “World’s Largest Performing Family.”  Of course, even members not participating in the onstage production are involved with the family business in some capacity.  So, whether it is on the stage, behind the scenes, working the business and/or working around the theater, each of the 50+ members is intricately involved in the show’s success in some way, shape, form or fashion.

~ The Hughes Music Show 2018 ~

The newly designed 2018 show packs in jaw-dropping fun from beginning to end.  No joke!  The family’s collaborative effort onstage makes you laugh, sing, tap your feet and sometimes even shed a happy tear or two throughout their near flawless performances.

From spectacular quartets and powerful ensembles to original songs, energizing dance routines and instrumental aptitude (there is just so much!), the Hughes Family mesmerizes their audience by delivering a feel good, wholesome and well knit together variety show.

Also meticulously woven into the fabric of the show are threads of their faith and love for their country, tastefully intertwined through various songs, dialogue and acknowledgements.

Of course, the kids are unmistakably a huge highlight and crowd magnet.  The family stage allows them an opportunity to showcase their own various and multiple gifts, activating smiles from one end of the auditorium to the other.  They captivate attention with their vocal abilities, back flips, dance routines, rhythmic pieces using props and their immense instrumental skills.  And I have to tell you ~ each and every one of them looks genuinely thrilled to be up there doing this!

~ Our Spectacular Night ~

I wanted to take a moment to talk about the actual night we were there.  To be honest with you, I could not have had a better seat!  It was front row center and I had the opportunity to see each and every smile, as well as the high intensity enthusiasm, up close and personal.  It is more than obvious that this family loves what they do and they masterfully coordinate their gifts into a synchronous piece of art.

There were an innumerable number of high points for me that evening.  I was a music major in college and spent the majority of my high school career in the music department.  So, I literally feed off of good harmonies and passionate performances (ask my kids!).  Hearing what this family can produce together as a multi-faceted entity was ultimately satisfying for me.  From country and classic to gospel and pop, not a moment went by where I was not engaged or enthralled.  They delivered every song with heart and demonstrated true devotion to their craft.

Of course, I can’t forget to mention the dancing!  Whether it was a contemporary act performed by the teens or a rhythmic routine involving tambourine hats or rulers, I could not stop moving and grooving in my seat!

And the instrumental segments?  Oh, my goodness!  Many of the children entertained us with original songs, guitar playing and violin mastery.  It honestly sent chills of excitement up and down my music-loving spine to hear them play.

~ Our Special Moment ~

Prior to closing out the evening, our group had the fortunate blessing of spending some personal time with the Hughes Family.  It was an honor to meet such a loving, involved, caring and engaged group of individuals.  What intrigued me the most was the way they chose to engage us, as well.  Not only were we asking them questions about their life both on stage and behind the scenes, they had their own inquiry to make about our love for blogging.  It was a beautiful conversation full of mutual respect, curiosity and appreciation. I’ll never forget it.

~ The Show’s Personal Impact~

So, every show has a purpose, a theme.  There is always something it wants your heart to walk away feeling or knowing.  When I look back on that night we had with the Hughes Family, it’s fairly transparent to me that:

  1. They want you to know they are a tight-knit, loving family who builds each other up and encourages each other’s God-given abilities.
  2. There is an unshakable faith in God that serves as their true foundation.
  3. They have a tremendous reverence for their country and for those who have served in any capacity to protect it.

~ Ready to Visit Branson Yet? ~

The Hughes Music Show is just another fantastic reason I encourage you to visit Branson, Missouri.  Should you choose to attend the show, it will be an evening well spent and a memory to keep forever.

This fantastic family was born not only to entertain and share their immense gifts and talents.  No – there is much more to it.  From the most senior member to the newest addition (who was barely walking at the time of our visit), the Hughes Family was also born to melt your heart!
